• 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (very thinly sliced)
  • 6 garlic cloves (smashed)
  • 5 cups canned whoel tomatoes in their juice (from three 14-ounce cans)
  • 1 cup water
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp celery seed
  • salt (to taste)
  • freshly ground pepper (to taste)
  1. Cook the onion & garlic in the oils until tender

  2. Add the tomatoes, water and spices and heat through

  3. Blend in small batches until smooth

  4. Add cream and stir

  5. Serve with crusty French bread
